What to expect on the 2021 Ram 1500

Like we mentioned above, the 2021 Ram 1500 is available in seven trims. The seven trim options on the 2021 Ram 1500 are Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited and an all new Ram TRX. Under the hood, the 2021 Ram 1500 has the option for a 3.6-liter V6, a 5.7-liiter V8, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel or a 6.2-liter supercharges V8.

The all new Ram TRX trim on the 2021 Ram 1500 is a head turner, we promise. The Ram TRX trim pairs a Hellcat engine with a Ram truck for the first time and offers 2021 Ram 1500 drivers the biggest engine and tires, a wide stance, a 12.0-inch touchscreen and massive exhausts.

But if you’re not inclined to purchase the biggest and best 2021 Ram 1500 available, the base Ram 1500 has a 305-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 that has plenty of power and torque. The 2021 Ram 1500 V6 engine pairs well with an 8-speed automatic transmission that’s standard across the board with four-wheel drive and towing capabilities up to 7,710 pounds. The 5.7-liter V8 is more popular with buyers, mostly due to its towing capacity, with 395-horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The powertrain on this 2021 Ram 1500 is rated to tow up to 12,750 pounds and lug up to 1,900 pounds in the bed.

The 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel is the next step upwards for the 2021 Ram 1500 series. At 280-horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, it has the most tug among the three, but it’s rated to tow about 200 pounds less than the 5.7-liter V8. Compared to the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 in the Ram TRX, the 3.0-liter diesel plays with 702-horsepower offering one of the strongest options in the 2021 Ram 1500.

Four-wheel drive is an option across the board for the 2021 Ram 1500 and Ram separates from competitors with a standard coil spring suspension rather than leaf springs and an air suspension is available on many trims.

Comfort, quality & features of the 2021 Ram 1500

The Ram 1500 has come a long way in its time and that still holds true for the 2021 models. Everyone talks about the interior for the Ram 1500 series and the 2021 models have kept themselves ahead of the competition. Like last year, the Ram 1500 is available in extended- and crew-cab models with four doors while a two-door Ram is available but called a Ram Classic and based on a much older body. Bench seats are fitted in only the work-spec model while front buckets with a wide center console is more common for most all 2021 Ram 1500 buyers. The same goes for the full-size four-door crew cab, which has a cavernous rear seat for up to three passengers. Leg room inside the cabin is exceptional and the seats slide fore and aft for better room or to recline the rear seats. There are multiple USB chargers throughout the truck and so many storage compartments you might find a new one every day.

A 5-foot-7 or 6-foot-4 bed is available on crew-cab models while a 6-foot-4 bed is the only option for extended-cab trucks. A spray-in bedliner is available as are cargo tie-downs and a functional tailgate that can drop, swing, and open in the middle.

The Big Horn, or Lone Star for those living in or near the Republic of Texas, 2021 Ram 1500 models are the first stop beyond the work-spec trucks and add 18-inch wheels, chrome bumpers and more options including an 8.4-inch touchscreen with smartphone compatibility software, sport trim packages with 20-inch wheels, or active safety features such as automatic emergency braking.

The 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie includes that tech as standard equipment, and also an 8.4-inch touchscreen, leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats and a V8 engine. The Laramie Longhorn and Limited trucks heap on amenities like a rearview camera mirror, 12-inch touchscreen, cameras throughout the truck and softer leather upholsteries. The Ram Rebel steers toward off-roading with beefier hardware but is equipped like a Big Horn. The Ram TRX steers toward anywhere at 100 mph and includes most of the tech perks from the Limited trim.
